North American Leopard frog

This handmade wheel thrown mug is adorned with colorful glazes and whimsical imagery. The interior and handle glaze is a dark rutile blue. The front of the mug has a hand painted American leopard frog. Rendered in meticulous detail, this frog is realistically painted with a touch of whimsy illustration. The frog painting has dots of clear glaze which gives it real lifted textured water droplets. The exterior glaze is a matte jade green with brown crystals that flow down the surface that complement the brown colors within the toad. Sculpted lily pad appliqués and black tadpoles decorate the mug’s surface creating an environment for the frog. Together, they create a whimsically unique piece of functional art.
