This mug is adorned with ocean themed appliques around the handle. Fish swim around the handle over coral and seaweed. The handle itself is a deeply carved surface to mimic the textures of coral. There is a starfish applique as a thumb rest at the top of the handle. The focal point of the mug is a seal painting rendered in meticulous details. The seal is not clear glazed giving it a raw clay texture. This choice of not clear glazing the painting makes it contrasted against the surrounding gloss glaze. The painting is coated in liquid quartz sealer protecting it from UV light and potential stains.
