This mug is adorned with fish appliques around the handle. The handle itself is a deeply carved surface to mimic the textures of coral. The focal point of the mug is a manatee painting rendered in meticulous details. The manatee is not clear glazed giving it a raw clay texture. This choice of not clear glazing the painting makes it contrasted against the surrounding gloss glaze. The painting is coated in liquid quartz sealer protecting it from UV light and potential stains. Swimming around the manatee, beneath the gloss glaze are brown carved fish-like shapes. These fish create atmospheric perspective of the deep ocean. The interior glaze is a brilliant visual that looks the same as the algae growth on the back of the manatee, creating a cohesive theme throughout inside and out.
